Upon completion of the booking process, a binding contract exists between Al-Salam Institute and the attendee. Any disputes arising from the contract are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England or Wales.

After a booking has been made, a confirmation email will be sent to the attendee. When you receive these details, please ensure that the information is correct. In the event of any discrepancy, you must contact the Institute immediately. It may not be possible to amend the details later.

Price and Payment

The advertised price “from” is based on the lowest available study package.

All bookings made online or via telephone require full payment at the time of booking.

No refunds will be issued for any ticket purchase under any circumstances. For further details, please see the section below on Changes or cancellations by participant.

Passport and Visas

It is your responsibility to ensure that all necessary passports, visas, vaccinations and other health documents are in order. Please note that all passports must be valid for the duration of the Knowledge Retreat.


This trip is open to both men and women.

Attending with Children

Newborn children (aged 0 – 12 weeks) are not permitted to attend the Retreat

Infants (aged 3 months – 3 years) are permitted to attend the Retreat and are allowed to attend evening sessions only and receive the ijazat. Infants are free unless a bed is required.   This concession is available only for the (ESSENTIAL: Shared Accommodation) tickets, and are subject to the following conditions:

  • Infants must either stay in a cot or share with a parent. An additional / separate single bed will not be provided
  • Cots will be provided at no additional cost subject to availability
  • Cots will be allocated in order of age ascending (i.e. younger infants shall have priority)
  • Use of the crèche area is mandatory for all Infants during the morning sessions

Children (aged 4 years – 6 years) are allowed to attend evening sessions only and receive the ijazat. Children aged 6 and over can attend all morning and evening sessions. Young children aged between 4 and 14 years are afforded the following concession(s):
Reduced cost for ESSENTIAL tickets
Optional use of the crèche facility

There are no concessions available for participants aged 15 years or older.


Crèche Facilities

Crèche facilities are available throughout the duration of the Retreat (please see website for pricing information).

  • Use of the crèche area is mandatory for all children aged 5 and under during the morning sessions
  • Use of the crèche area is optional for all Children
  • Evening sessions with Shaykh Akram and international scholars can be attended by all participants

There will be no crèche facility available for evening sessions, trips and activities.

It will not be possible to pay per day for use of the crèche facilities. Parents who opt-in for the service will be required to do so for the entire duration and must register for the service prior to the beginning of the trip.

A late fee of €10 per child will be charged for children who are picked up after 1:15pm unless other arrangements have been made.

Parents or carers of any children who are causing a distraction to fellow students or teachers during the classes may be asked to leave the premises temporarily.

Changes or cancellations by participant

Should you wish to make a change to your booking arrangements after confirmation has been issued, we will do our utmost best to comply. However, this is subject to availability and may not always be feasible.

Any request for change should be received in writing within 14 working days prior to the commencement date. There are no amendment fees for changes submitted by this time.

Should you wish to cancel your booking after confirmation has been issued, a written notification must be sent by email or mail be received at our London offices. There are no additional charges levied for cancellation, however refunds will not be issued for any ticket purchase under any circumstances.

Changes or cancellations by Al-Salam Institute

In the event of any unforeseen changes to booking dates after confirmation, participants will be informed as soon as possible as to the new time and date before the commencement date. If the Retreat is cancelled by the Institute due to situations beyond its control or minimum numbers not being reached, we will refund the money you have paid or offer a seat on a similar journey. No compensation shall be paid and there will be no further liability incurred.

Any external excursions, tours, or hire arrangements that you may choose to book separately are not a part of the Retreat package provided by Al-Salam Institute. Your contract will be directly with the service provider. Al-Salam Institute will not bear any responsibility for the provision of that service or for any related costs or consequences that may occur.

Special requests

Overseas services are not covered by the Equality Act 2010, and facilities that are expected and required in the UK are not available in many of the Retreat destinations. If you have a disability or any mobility issues you should be aware that many of the accommodations may not have ramps or lift access. The Retreat will often also involve traversing significant distances and visits to places of steep or rough terrain. Should you or a participant that you are travelling with require a carer or assistance with mobility, then you must (1) state this clearly on your registration form and (2) call us on +44 (0) 20 8090 1623 to discuss any special requirements before you confirm your booking.

You are required to bring a sufficient supply of any prescription medication for the duration of the trip and are responsible for checking with their doctor about the side effects of the medication in the conditions of the country.

Accommodation and Internal Travel

Those who wish to travel and stay with the participants travelling with Al-Salam Institute will be able to purchase the Essential Ticket options. Please see the ‘Pricing’ tab for more information and what each ticket will include.

Airport transfers will be arranged from the following airports:

Murcia            Murcia-San Javier (MJV)*

Madrid            Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport (MAD)

*(Primary OUTBOUND & INBOUND flight from London Stansted, UK)

Participants staying on-campus and travelling with the ASI Team will check-in to the accommodation on Wednesday 28th March in the evening. Our first study session will take place on Thursday evening (full programme details issued after registration).

Al-Salam Institute will have full exclusive access to the accommodation, and the morning and evening study sessions will be conducted in the same premises.

Please note that if you arrive before the check-in date, you will need to arrange for your own accommodation. All participants are able to board any of the three airport transfers provided.


Participants agree to accept responsibility for their proper conduct and of any dependants attending. If Al-Salam or any other person in authority reasonably believes that you are behaving in such a way that is likely to cause danger or distress to any other person or property, we will be entitled to terminate your trip prematurely. No refunds will be issued and the Institute will not pay for any expenses or costs incurred as a result of the termination. Any damage or loss caused to a third party as a result of the participant’s behaviour must be recompensed directly at the time to the service supplier or affected person(s); failing which the participant will be responsible for meeting any claims subsequently made against the Institute (together will full legal costs) as a result of their actions.

Grievances and Complaints

If you experience any problem during the Retreat, please inform the relevant supplier (ie. hotel) to resolve the issue immediately. If your complaint cannot be resolved locally, you must submit a written complaint to the Institute within 28 days from the end date of the Retreat programme. Please include your original booking reference and all relevant information to retreat@alsalam.ac.uk.

It is a condition of this contract that you inform suppliers of any problems encountered abroad and obtain a written report. If this procedure is not followed, we may not be able to investigate and resolve your complaint to protect your rights provided under this contract.

During the Retreat, all participants are responsible for the security of their own personal belongings, travel documents, and assets. Al-Salam Institute will not be responsible for the loss of any items, passports or valuables.

The Institute will also bear no responsibility or liability for any health problems, accidents or unforeseen circumstances affecting any participant’s health, security, or otherwise, throughout the duration of the Retreat.

In case of emergency, the Institute will contact the designated emergency contact of the participant.

Data Protection and Privacy

We observe the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998 in respect of all personal data held by the Institute at any time. We will not pass on such data to third parties save where this is necessary in connection with the performance by us of our contract with you, or as otherwise authorised by you. We may use such data to notify you of our upcoming events, offers and promotions from time to time. These Terms and Conditions may be updated from time to time. The terms and conditions which will apply to your Retreat are those that are on our website at the time of booking.
