Iman fi aqsam al Qur’an by Mulana Hamid al-Din Farahi
A 1-day short course studying the Qur’anic Oaths with Shaykh Akram Nadwi
A Study of the Qur’anic Oaths
In the Quran, we often find that Allah swears by Himself or by His creation. This phenomenon—known as a Qur’anic Oath—has been noted by traditional and contemporary scholars, and has been the subject of extensive study.
In this one-day intensive course, Shaykh Akram Nadwi will outline the views opined by traditional scholars, such as Ibn Hazm and Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah, before presenting the systematic theory of oaths set out by Mawlana Hamid al-Din Farahi in ‘Iman Fi Aqsam al-Qur’an’ (A Study of the Quranic Oaths).
After illustrating his theory with a select number of examples from the Quran, Mawlana Farahi’s systematic theory was further developed by his senior student, Mawlana Amin Ahsan Islahi, author of taddabur-e-Quran. This course provides a unique opportunity to connect with the Farahi-Islahi school of thought via Shaykh Akram Nadwi.
